Picking up this one out of the lot was more like a curious decision for me.
Our childhoods remember the name Priyanka for many hits, songs, movies, and most importantly her achievements.
”Miss World, 2000 “
That was the dream and her journey began from such a big endearing triumph.
Nonetheless, the road is far from easier.
Yes, the opportunities did come walking to her but the talent to learn acting and then set up a successful business around it is a different journey altogether. She nailed that part, both nationally and internationally.
I found many achievements and surprises on her journey, laying out her childhood conditioning and American experience in the most accessible and elegant of ways. One of her most significant contributions was the grit and gut of establishing herself in Hollywood - a totally different ballgame altogether.
The billboards with her face were truly well deserved and well earned. Little bubbles of air going up and up, lightning and make all our lives better for it.
On a personal note, I expected way more than what I saw/ read. I expected many more transformational journeys and achievements along the way. I believe those will come very late (if they ever do, after all, there is a good strong 20 years of career stretch waiting for her, so yeah - a good choice to restrain and share strategically)
P.S. Memoirs teach you a lot and sometimes end up giving hope as well as resilience to the reader. On that note, it was a light reinsuring experience from none other than “Desi Girl” from India.
